I believe the best option, concerning price as well, is to get two 19″ TFT monitors. Most mid-level graphic cards come out with dual DVI outputs, so the cost is logical. Plus, TFT’s now have very slim frames, so you can stick them together and the desktop becomes almost seamless.
Undoubtedly, having 2 monitors increases your productivity a lot. If you are a multitasker, you will be asking yourself why you didn’t get them before. And, you will get so addicted to it, that you will feel awkward working on a single monitor setup.
Plus, it’s a conversation starter when you have guests
