I know from first hand experience, that starting affiliates will find all the information and possibilities daunting.
Where do I start? What should I promote? How do I promote it?
Classic questions, and no simple answers.
People will say on fora and other guides, that you should go for small targets, niches, untapped business areas.
DON’T LISTEN TO THEM.
If noone is promoting it, then it does not make money. End of story.
Yes, you need to find a niche, but a niche is not necessarily something small. Its something targeted. I will explain later.
So, what should I promote, you are asking?
The list is small, really.
- Poker
- Porn
- Credit Cards/Loans
- Forex
- Web Hosting
- Ebay
That is all. That is what will make you money, that is what works.
“Oh, those are swamped. There are millions of sites competing for them. I’ll never get into top 10.”
True. And the reason is: they work. Who says you need to get to top 10?
Simple facts:
Google.com search for “poker” 161.000.000 sites
Google.com search for “ποκερ” (poker written in Greek) 211,000 sites
See my point?
I know you are not all Greek, but you are French, Italian, Slovekian, Chinese, etc.
Target your country. Dominate that niche.
There are two exceptions. Every site, must be hosted somewhere, right? Put a hosting affiliate link at the bottom (footer) of every site you create. I.e. “Hosted by Hostmonster“. You have nothing to lose.
The other, is Ebay. Or eBay, as they like to write it. You can add eBay to every possible site.
Toyota reviews? Search for “toyota” at ebay motors.
Olympic Games 2008? Search ebay for “olympic games memorabilia”.
Submarine enthusiasts? Search ebay motors for “submarine” (no, I’m not kidding)
Go for a juicy target, and find the weak spot.
I suggest you try promoting:

Glowleaf,
Great info. But would one need to be well-versed in, say, poker to really make that niche pay off?

The deeper your understanding in a niche, the better opportunities you will find.
A rule of thumb is: you need to get past the newbie phase in a niche to make something out of it.t doesn’t have to be expert, or guru. Just above newbie.
