Usually, in a ppc campaign, you research for the keywords you want, and then create the ad and the landing page. There is a special situation I noticed, and it might help some of you.

In websites that are usually in competitive markets, where normal SEO does not give you a top 10 place, you usually rely on a parallel ppc campaign to boost your traffic. In that campaign, the goals are to target relevant keywords, and to pay as little as possible on every click. Well, what you can do is this: after you have let the campaign run for a few weeks, your QS is good, and you have filled the landing site with most of the keywords required, you can take it backwards.

Have the adwords keyword tool scrape the keywords from your website. Look at both keyword lists, and see which are common. Put the most expensive keywords, that the tool did not find, in your titles and your content. This will help you optimize the campaign.

In an extreme case, bid only on the keywords the tool scraped, so you can get as high a QS as possible. Careful though not to leave out the converting keywords.
