Heh I Am using this product. I currently run a ravewebsite Check it out its growing.. I really like it. it looks nice and reacts very well. The only problem I am having is it needs a downloads section were you can submit "files"

Yes, I discussed elgg on the comments at the previous phpfox post. My server does not support it, and I really wanted to try it, it looks damn impressive and sleek.

Tell us more on the blackhat tricks you can do with it, I am interested.

You should also check out elgg.org's open source solution. Top notch for what it is.

From the black hat side there are tons of things you can do - like importing feeds from sites, etc..

Social bookmarking is not the same as social networking. As for your Pligg site, since you want a reddit clone, why not actually use reddit's code? Its open source now.

But sure, you can email me at glowleaf@gmail.com, I love bouncing around.

Glowleaf, thanks for this review. phpfox sounds like a good package.

I have a couple of sites that might work well for this. One of them was conceived as more of a reddit type site, but I'm thinking that this might work better. I'm using Pligg at the moment. The other is a wordpress site, is much older than the first one. I first thought of it as a community-type site, before myspace and facebook took off so well; more of a bbs kind of thing.

They're both in roughly the same niche ( the older one is a more specific subset of the younger one ).

I like pligg cuz it's free ( duh ) but I'm not married to it. I'm a little more protective of this niche than, say, Canon Digital Cameras; would you be up to me bouncing a couple of ideas off you via email?
